In the Ogam, (a tree-based alphabet originated in Ireland) the pine tree is named after the first vowel sound in the alphabet. A word representing the beginning of answers, as the first expression of every human being after birth is ‘aaaah’.
In a mythological manuscript from the 7th century, the following is written about pine: “The loudest groan, that is, wonder. For ‘aaaah’ is what one says when groaning in disease or wondering, marvelling at whatever circumstance”
Irish Celtic communities associated the pine tree with the energy of breakthrough and new beginnings. One that is both painful and promising.
