Although I have known Maya Strobbe for over a decade, Drawing for the Sky (A0B4CF) marks our first collaboration. I made a drawing for the sky, while Maya drew inspiration from a cyanometer—an instrument that measures the blueness of the sky. In her attempt to design an “invisible flag,” one that might resemble a cloud against the sky, she consulted weathermen and databases to predict the sky’s color at the moment of the flag’s inauguration.
To add a ceremonial touch to the moment of hoisting, Maya and I performed an adaptation for recorder of Bach’s Air while the flag was raised.
