With sponge castle for cleaning products, I wanted to improve the quality of life of the cleaning products in Chateau Nour. For the period of one month, the cleaning products exchanged their home under the sink for a castle made of sponges. This sculpture was realised during a residency project called attempts to be more kind, hosted by Komplot.

Attempts to be more kind was a research in the many layers of kindness. By adopting the point of view of objects and imagining how they wish to be cared for, a playground of assumptions unfolded. These imaginings were the starting point for a series of intentional acts in which a meaningful relationship between people and things was established. Acts resulting in a collection of actions, drawings, workshops, text, sculptures, performances, participatory experiments, videos, ...

Attempts to be more kind started in residency at Komplot Brussels and was funded by Flemish Government. By building a sponge castle for the cleaning products, singing for plants, galloping for horse lovers and other actions, attempts to be more kind tried to make the surroundings of Komplot a better place for things. The results of this residency were shown in an exhibition.
